Available Juristic Methods for Asr Prayer Timings

Almost all the prayer timings are the same in all the Muslim Firqa, but there are two Asr timings methods.

  1. Shafii and Jafri method

According to this, the Asr namaz time starts when the shadow of some object becomes equal to the length of that object at noon.

  1. Hanafi method

According to Hanafi’s schools, the Asr namaz time starts when the shadow of some object is twice the length of that object at noon. The Hanafi opinion is the dominant one.

But the Asr time ends at the same time in both methods.

Can You Pray Namaz (Salah) Before Adhan?

This is the question asked by many people that either they can pray namaz before adhan or not? So, the answer is “Yes”. But the time of namaz must start. If you are in a mosque, you can not offer namaz before adhan.

If you are somewhere where you can not hear the adhan, then the namaz can be offered as soon as the time starts. It is much better to offer the Namaz (Salah) after hearing the Adhan as a symbol of respect. But praying before adhan also depends on many factors like War, traveling, etc.

According to Holy Quran,

When you travel, during war, you commit no error by shortening your Contact Prayers (Salat), if you fear that the disbelievers may attack you. Surely, the disbelievers are your ardent enemies. (Quran 4:101)

Importance of Prayers (Namaz)

Prayers (Namaz) is mandatory for Muslims. The Quran commands the Muslims to offer namaz 700 times. Moreover, Prophet Muhammad (SWT) also said that Muslims offer namaz five times a day in many hadiths again and again.

Some of the Quran verses about the importance of Namaz are described below

When you have finished the Prayer, remember Allah -standing, and sitting, and reclining. And when you become secure, perform the regular Prayer. The Prayer is enjoined upon the believers at stated times”. (4:103).

Another one;

And resort to patience and Prayer for help. Truly Prayer is burdensome for all except the devout”. (2:45)

These Verses (Ayats) tell us about namaz’s importance.
